APJ Abdul Kalam Scholarship: An Overview
Eligibility Criteria and Application Details
Applications are invited for the APJ Abdul Kalam Scholarship for the academic year 2024-25. This scholarship is aimed at students from minority communities who are pursuing 3-year diploma courses in government, aided, and government-approved self-financing polytechnics.
This scholarship is awarded to minority religious groups (Muslim, Christian (all denominations), Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi) residing in Kerala and pursuing studies there. The scholarship amount is ₹6,000.
Students admitted to merit seats in government-approved self-financing polytechnics can apply. Priority will be given to those belonging to the BPL category. In the absence of BPL applicants, APL applicants from minority religious communities with an annual income of up to ₹8 lakh will be considered.
Second-year and third-year students are also eligible to apply. However, the scholarship is awarded only once. Those who applied and received the scholarship last year need not apply this year. 30% of the scholarships are reserved for girls. If the required percentage of girls is not met, eligible boys will be considered.
The selection of minority students is based on family annual income and marks, proportionally to the population. Applicants must have an account in their own name in any nationalized or scheduled bank.
