Scholarship Opportunity for Students with Disabilities in Higher Education Institutions

The central government is implementing a scholarship program for students with disabilities who are pursuing higher education. The "Scholarship for Top Class Education for Students with Disabilities" is now accepting applications for the academic year 2025-2026. The website is open for both fresh and renewal registrations.

Eligible students with disabilities studying at top-rated higher education institutions in India can apply through the National Scholarship Portal until October 31, 2025, subject to specific terms and conditions.

This scholarship is offered by the central government to students with disabilities who are enrolled in premier higher education institutions across India.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a student at one of the selected 240 top-tier educational institutions.
  • The list includes IITs, NITs, IISERs, TISS, IIMs, IIITs, and other prominent engineering, medical, law, hotel management, statistical, and fashion institutions.
  • Must have a disability of 40% or more.
  • The annual family income should be less than ₹8 lakhs.
  • Students studying outside Kerala can also apply.
  • Applicable to individuals from all religious backgrounds.

Scholarship Amount

  • Tuition fees and other non-refundable fees will be reimbursed.
  • Maintenance allowance of ₹3000 per month for hostel residents and ₹1500 per month for day scholars.
  • Special allowance: ₹2000 per month.
  • Books and stationery: ₹5000 per year.
  • In addition, a one-time grant of up to ₹45000 for purchasing a laptop and up to ₹30000 for assistive devices may be provided.

Category-wise Monthly Allowance

  • Category 1: ₹1600 for hostellers and ₹750 for day scholars
  • Category 2: ₹1100 for hostellers and ₹700 for day scholars
  • Category 3: ₹950 for hostellers and ₹600 for day scholars
  • Category 4: ₹900 for hostellers and ₹650 for day scholars

How to Apply

  • Applications must be submitted through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP), the common portal for central government scholarships.
  • First-time applicants should complete a One-Time Registration (OTR) on the NSP.
  • Log in using the OTR credentials.
  • Provide personal and academic details to view the eligible scholarships.
  • Select the "Scholarship for Top Class Education for Students with Disabilities" and upload the required documents.
  • After submitting the scholarship application, provide a printout of the application to your educational institution.

Required Documents

  • Medical Board Certificate indicating a disability of 40% or more.
  • UDID (Unique Disability Identity Card) is mandatory.
  • Photograph.
  • Proof of age.
  • Income certificate.
  • Tuition fee receipt.
  • Last academic qualification certificate.
  • Bank details.
