Toolkit Grant for Artisans: Apply Now

The Backward Classes Development Department is implementing the Clay Pottery Financial Assistance and Toolkit Grant programs. The deadline for submitting applications for the 2025-2026 year has been extended from June 30, 2025, to July 11, 2025.

Applications are invited for the Toolkit Grant for traditional artisans for the year 2025-26. The annual income should not exceed ₹2.5 lakh. Applicants must be under 60 years of age.

Eligibility Criteria and Guidelines

General Requirements

  1. Applicants must belong to a community listed under the Other Backward Classes (OBC) involved in traditional handicraft work.
  2. The applicant must be a native of Kerala.
  3. The applicant must be currently engaged in traditional handicraft work.
  4. The annual family income should not exceed ₹2.5 lakh.
  5. The maximum grant available to eligible applicants will be ₹20,000.
  6. The maximum age limit for applying is 60 years.
  7. Those who have received benefits under the same scheme in previous years or their family members should not apply.
  8. Preference will be given to those with more than two daughters, differently-abled individuals, or those with more than 10 years of work experience.
  9. Selected applicants will be given training in the relevant field for a maximum of 3 months if required. Only those who successfully complete the training will be selected for the Toolkit Grant. Those who have already received training can apply for the Toolkit Grant only.
  10. Those who have received benefits from local self-government agencies or government institutions should not apply.

Grant Disbursement and Tool Procurement

  1. The maximum amount for training expenses, stipend, and toolkit will be sanctioned in two installments to the selected candidates. The second installment will be released once the utilization certificate for the first installment is submitted.
  2. Tools should be selected according to the applicant's profession. The tools must meet ISI/BIS standards.
  3. Applicants can purchase tools from agencies they deem appropriate.
  4. This financial assistance scheme is for purchasing modern equipment for traditional occupation innovation. Only standard equipment/tools should be purchased.
  5. The benefit amount should not be used as working capital.
  6. The income certificate obtained from the revenue authority through e-district within the year, its number, and security code must be recorded in the online application. Annual income will be one of the criteria for selecting beneficiaries.
  7. Bank account details in the applicant's name must be recorded when registering online. Otherwise, the eligibility for financial assistance will be lost. Bank accounts in the name of family members or others will not be considered under any circumstances. The account being recorded must be live.
  8. Applicants must upload a copy of their caste certificate, work experience certificate (obtainable from the Chairman/President or Secretary of the local self-government institution), and Aadhaar card online. The printout of the application form and related documents do not need to be sent to the Backward Classes Development Department.
